Chelsea are accelerating their transfer plans with less than 48 hours to go and want Real Madrid’s Kovacic.

Spanish newspaper, El Pais claims that Real Madrid have reluctantly agreed to let Kovacic join the west London outfit.

However, the Spanish giants still hope the Croat stays at the Bernabeu having endured a rocky summer, losing Cristiano Ronaldo to Juventus and failing to land a replacement.

And, in order to avoid losing Kovacic as well, El Pais reports that Bernabeu chiefs have asked for a helping hand from his compatriot, Luka Modric.

Kovcacic is reportedly ‘overwhelmed’ by the competition he faces to get into Real’s XI.
